T
he object of this project was to devise a solution for more usable space in a vacation condominium. Since the client uses his Bay front condo only during down time and needed more space for entertaining, it made sense to create a moveable wall between his living room and bedroom with large telescoping pocket doors and mirrors.
The glossy white, clean line design of the doors with inset mirrors gives an abstract nod bamboo shoots and continues a subtle theme of natural elements depicted throughout the condo. When closed, the 10’ wide telescoping mirrored door reflects back the view of Biscayne Bay and South Beach as though the view is continuous and creates the illusion of a larger living room. When open, the door hides away neatly into a wall pocket and opens the master bedroom up completely to the living room to create a much larger room and full access views to outside from both rooms.
